Using a custom font

Setting a custom font for your directory allows you to customise the design to match your brand. There are just a couple of steps that you need to take to make sure the font loads correctly.

Make sure the font is used on the website

In order for your directory to correctly show the font in the embed, it has to already exist somewhere on the page. For example, if you wanted your directory to use the font Proxima Nova then the directory page on the website needs to also have Proxima Nova on it.

Get the custom font name

Community Box needs the specific version of the font name as it is used in the website code.

Comfortable with code?

We need the CSS font-family value. For example, if this was the CSS:

font-family: "proxima-nova";

Then the custom font name would need to be entered as proxima-nova (we don't need the quotation marks). So if you're comfortable with code, grab the font-family value and head on to the next step.

Not comfortable with code?

Quite often the font name as you know it can actually be how it's written in the website code, so you can always try it and see if it works. You might get lucky!

If it doesn't work, just get in touch with our support team on help@communitybox.co and share a link to your website. We can get the correct format for you to enter!

Set the custom font

Once you have the font name in the right format:

  • Click on Directories → [Directory name] → Design
  • Click on Custom font
  • Enter the name of the font and press Update
