Working with Categories and Tags

Introduction

Tags are a powerful way for you to classify and organise profiles in your directories.

In Community Box, tags are grouped into categories.

For example, you might have a category called Industry that contains tags like Graphic designer, Marketing expert, Virtual assistant etc. You might have another category called Languages spoken with tags like English, Spanish, French etc.

Editing tags

Interactive editing

To add or remove tags in an existing category, navigate to the dashboard > Form Designer menu. Find the category you'd like to add/remove tags in. Click on the three dots next to the category field card.

Scroll to the bottom of the popup so that you can see the list of tags in this category:

To add a new tag, click anywhere inside the box with the list of tags and start typing. Once you are done typing, press the [Return] or [Enter] key on your keyboard to finish adding the tag.

To remove an existing tag, click on the tag itself and press the [Backspace] or [Delete] key on your keyboard.

Importing tags from a spreadsheet

If you have a long list of tags to import from another source, it can be quicker and easier to copy and paste the tags into Community Box from a spreadsheet. To do so:

  1. Group the tags into a single column in a spreadsheet application, like Excel or Google Sheets, with one tag per cell
  2. Select the entire column
  3. Copy the column contents to the clipboard
  4. Click inside the tag editing box (see screenshot above) and press the paste (usually Ctrl+V or Cmd+V) key combination on your device
