Embedding your directory into your Thinkific website

You can embed your Community Box directory directly into your Thinkific website using Thinkific's Site Builder.

This allows your directory to sit alongside your Thinkific courses and other website pages, giving your students an easy way to find and connect with other members of your community.

Before you begin

You'll need:

  • To have signed up to Community Box and created a directory
  • Access to your Thinkific admin account
  • A Thinkific website using the Site Builder

You should also have at least one profile in your directory so you can preview the directory once it has been embedded.

Watch: How to embed your Community Box directory into Thinkific

Copy your Community Box embed code

  • Log in to your Community Box dashboard.
  • Open the directory you want to embed.
  • Go to Look & Feel.
  • Select Preview & Embed Your Directory.
  • Choose Thinkific as your website platform.
  • Copy the embed code provided.

Keep this code handy as you'll add it to your Thinkific Site Builder in the next steps.

Create a page in Thinkific

  • Log in to your Thinkific admin dashboard.
  • Go to Channels → Website.
  • Open Site Builder.
  • Choose the page where you'd like your directory to appear, or create a new custom page.

Add your Community Box directory code

  • In the Thinkific Site Builder, click Add section.
  • Select Text & Media.
  • Add the Community Box embed code to the custom HTML/code view
  • Save your changes
  • Publish your Thinkific site.

Your Community Box directory should now appear on the Thinkific page.

Tip: If the directory doesn't appear straight away, make sure the page has been published and then view the live page rather than relying only on the Site Builder preview.

Using Thinkific SSO (single sign on)

Community Box supports Thinkific SSO, allowing members to use their existing Thinkific login rather than creating a separate Community Box account. The integration needs to be activated by the Community Box team.

Once SSO is set up, students can access the directory using their Thinkific credentials.

You can also allow members to add and edit their own Community Box profiles, with moderation enabled if you want to review profiles before they appear in the directory.

Your students' experience

A typical setup might look like this:

Complete your Thinkific course → Visit the member directory → Log in using your Thinkific account → Create or edit your profile → Connect with other members

This can make it much easier to build a member directory without having to collect profile information separately and add it manually.

Troubleshooting

The directory isn't appearing

Check that:

  • You copied the complete Community Box embed code.
  • The code has been added to the custom HTML area rather than a standard text field.
  • Your Thinkific page has been published.
  • You're viewing the live page rather than just the Site Builder preview.

If you're still having trouble, send us the URL of the Thinkific page and we'll be happy to take a look.

I want students to use their Thinkific login

Community Box supports Thinkific SSO. If this hasn't been activated for your account yet, contact us and we'll arrange for our development team to enable it.

I want students to create their own profiles

You can allow members to add and edit their own Community Box profiles. You can also enable moderation so that new profiles are reviewed before being published.

Next steps

Once your directory is embedded, you can customise its appearance and decide which information members should provide through the Form Designer.

You can also configure moderation, featured profiles, search and filtering to suit your community.
